Different Types of Dental Implant Restorations

If a patient has missing, crooked, or damaged teeth, a dentist may advise dental implants. To replace lost teeth, four types of dental implant restorations are available. Single tooth implants, implant-supported dentures, full mouth acrylic, and full arch dental implants are the four types of restorations.

Each form of dental implant repair has advantages and disadvantages, so patients must select the best one for their specific needs.

Types of Dental Implant Restorations

A single tooth implant is the most basic kind of dental repair and is most commonly utilized when a tooth is lost due to an accident or disease. At one end, the single tooth implant is inserted straight into the jawbone. The bone is better preserved since a dental implant replaces your tooth root. When a bridge is used, some of the bone that once encased the tooth starts to resorb or degrade. Dental implants fuse with your jawbone, which helps to maintain it healthy and undamaged.

Bridges supported by implants are used to replace lost teeth on the opposing side. Unlike single tooth implants, implant-supported bridges can also be used to replace teeth lost due to accident or disease. While a traditional dental bridge can avoid the majority of tooth loss-related issues, an implant-supported bridge offers significant advantages. Traditional bridges are supported by neighboring teeth. Before the bridge is cemented in place with dental cement, these presumably healthy teeth must be altered. Because implants are used to hold the bridge, no good teeth must be ground down to replace a lost tooth.

Inlays and onlays are the most prevalent kind of dental restoration. These are implanted directly into the jawbone to replace missing teeth caused by tooth loss or decay. Full arch zirconia dental implants are the most common kind of implant-supported bridge, whereas partial arch zirconia dental implants are better suited for recovering teeth lost due to accident or decay. They serve as a foundation for new teeth to grow in and replace the original teeth.

Dental implants are extremely adaptable, making them an excellent alternative for smile repair. Because they are an investment, they must be carefully cared for. This includes cleaning them according to a dentist’s recommendations, avoiding harsh, acidic, hard, or sticky foods, and maintaining regular dental checkups to keep everything running properly.
