Metal free Crowns and bridges
Crowns slide over teeth to hide irregular, asymmetrical teeth or teeth with cracks, discolorations, or other imperfections. They also are used to protect weakened teeth (root canal treated) from fracturing. Crowns offer extra support to those teeth that are weak or damaged and make your teeth much more durable.
In combination with veneers, bleaching, orthodontics and bonding; crowns can also vastly improve the overall appearance of your smile (smile design).
» Crown on an implant is used to replace one or more missing teeth.
Bridge has been a conventional way of replacing missing teeth. A bridge can be used to restore missing tooth or teeth by taking support from adjacent teeth. The disadvantage of a bridge is the radical reduction (1.5mm) of enamel from the adjacent teeth. The life of a bridge depends on the health of the adjacent teeth.
Metal free crowns are far superior to porcelain fused to metal crowns (PFM) in esthetics as they match the translucency of natural teeth. PFM crown tends to show a grey shadow at the gum margin which becomes more prominent several years later if there is any gum recession. Metal free crowns are equally strong as PFM.
See cases on metal free crowns.
